Today some of my staff & I went to the funeral of our friend Mr. Daa. When the children of the village saw us, their faces lit up with the biggest smiles & many of them ran to give us a hug. Also when Mr. Daa's family & many of the other adults from the village saw me they genuinely smiled. Another old friend in his 80's from the village sat next to my staff & I during the funeral. We did not say much at all, but were there to show our love & respect for Mr. Daa & those left behind.
I have learned that just being with people during their time of difficulty speaks louder & more effectively than words (opening my mouth.)
A line from one of my favourite songs when I was much younger goes like this:
"Seen and not heard, seen and not heard
Sometimes God's children should be seen and not heard
There is too much talk and not enough walk
Sometimes God's children should be seen and not heard"
Jesus speaks even when words are not spoken.
