My vision for our community centre has always been to create a space eventually where Thai's could serve the people in our inner-city village. Last night was an exciting evening as we are experiencing even more of our vision becoming a reality.
We already have a Thai man & woman that have careers volunteering their time on weekends to serve at out centre. And now...
...last night at the centre we had 2 Thai older teens come to help volunteer. The boys said they wanted to help wherever needed, but could translate for us because are fluent in English. To start they want to volunteer twice a week for the month of October.
Our centre's younger boys loved them and treated them as the older brothers they do not have. It is so awesome to create a space for people to love & care for their own people.
These boys are growing up in a group home that is a ywam ministry.
My foreign staff said to me with excitement that our centre boys behaviour completely changed in a positive way. I told our staff that we foreigners are special, but we do wear off, but to have Thai's volunteering & wanting to be with our kids never gets old because they are Thai. They know their lives in a way that us foreigners will never understand no matter how good we are.
