Jealousy in a time of thankfulness

Happy Easter everyone! I hope that you all are well as we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus in our homes & meet with friends, family & church communities online.

I would like to ask for prayer as we have been giving for relief to families in the inner-city village where our community centre is located. Some people still are able to work, however many of the poor immigrants & foreigners are day labourers. This means that at best they are working 50% less then before & are only paid each day after they have completed their work. Many are not working at all. To these families we are giving most of our food relief.

This week some of the families that are still working & are not in need have become jealous that they are not getting food relief. Families in the village that are currently not in need have been making comments & calling out loud in the street not nice things as my staff are walking to families that are in real need. We knew that this might happen, but now that it really is happening it saddens me. Some people are really only focused on themselves during this COVID-19 situation.

We will continue to purchase rice, cooking oil, cans of Sardines/Mackerel, eggs, bags of raw peanuts & bars of soap to provide basic needs for these families.

The Lord your God is God of all gods and Lord of all lords. He is the great God, who is strong and wonderful. He does not take sides, and he will not be talked into doing evil. He helps orphans and widows, and he loves foreigners and gives them food and clothes. You also must love foreigners, because you were foreigners in Egypt.    Deuteronomy 10:17-19 NCV
