Valentine's Day

Last night at our little community centre was tiring, but seriously fun! Three of my staff & I with the kids made 100 heart shaped sugar cookies, pink icing, placed in clear bags, with a red ribbon bow, a Valentine's Day Card attached in English & Thai. The 7 year old boys were rolling the dough & cutting the cookies. The 10 year old girls were icing the cookies & placing them in the fridge to cool. Then the teens girls were making the Valentine's Day cards & tying the ribbons on the bag. Us, leaders were working alongside & helping the kids through every step.

The kids took 2 bags each home with them at the end of the night. Then my staff & I headed out into the village. We walked down the village streets looking for lights in people's homes. When we saw lights on I would yell out loud in Thai

"Hello! Our Thai children made Valentine's Day cookies. Would you like some?"

It was awesome because like in slow motion would see these big smiles apear on their faces & most of the Thai men & women would go get their children to accept the cookies. Then the parents & children would say thank-you together.

The men & women in the village were so happy to receive the cookies even if they did not have children. One older lady with her friends laughed & said in Thai "even the icing is pink."

Was a great time to do something special for our village.
