We just got back from the ywam campus in Truro. Teresa, our kids & I went down spent the night & all day planning for the upcoming Discipleship Training Weekend at Malagash Bible Camp. Teresa & I will be teaching on "The Character of God." The entire weekend is to give high school students a little taste of missions cross culturally & a ywam DTS (discipleship training school). We with the other staff of the ywam Truro campus will have times of singing, prayer, teaching, foreign meal choices, serving the community & take taxi rides with us while speaking to them in Mongolian, Hindi, Thai, German, French, etc...so they learn a little of what it's like. They also will have to keep their passports/money (play) on them as they avoid pick pockets, secret police, customs officers & airport security.
This is "not going to a fun playtime", but a good learning, challenging & stretching time.
Ywam's mission during a Discipleship Training School is to:
- Know God (in a classroom setting to learn about God's character)
- Make Him Known (in a local culture & then cross culture, overseas to share your faith practically)
